Job Summary
Senior Program Research Specialist – Finance at WRI India leads and coordinates research and financing initiatives for the Food, Land and Water program. Responsibilities include developing and advancing the program’s finance strategy for sustainable agriculture, food loss and waste reduction, and landscape restoration; building relationships with banks, NBFCs, DFIs, MDBs and other financial institutions; developing financial models and financing frameworks; supporting partner organizations with finance strategies and scalable business models; conducting research on financing trends; producing reports, case studies, and policy briefs; serving as the finance coordination focal point across FLW teams; organizing roundtables, webinars, and stakeholder convenings; developing work plans for project delivery; capacity building through workshops and trainings; donor reporting and fundraising support; and contributing to external communications.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, commerce, or a related field
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in strategic planning and project leadership within finance and the agriculture, food systems, or restoration sectors
- Strong understanding of sustainable and green finance, climate finance, ESG frameworks
- Experience working with the private sector on corporate finance, investment, or climate finance initiatives
- Proficiency in developing financial models for investment analysis and valuation
- Knowledge of green and sustainable finance frameworks relevant to food systems, agriculture, and restoration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in an additional Indian language is an advantage
