Senior Program Manager | SLS Avionics and Software

Senior Program Manager for SLS Avionics and Software IPT Lead to spearhead the design, development, integration, and testing of avionics systems and software for the Space Launch System Core Stage and Exploration Upper Stage. Leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers in avionics hardware, embedded software, systems engineering, and integration; oversees real-time embedded software for flight control, telemetry, and data processing; coordinates integration with rocket subsystems and leads verification and validation to meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. Manages schedules, budgets, and resource plans for the IPT, collaborating with propulsion, structures, and systems engineering to resolve technical challenges. Ensures compliance with industry standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-STD-1553) and program requirements, while interfacing with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers (NASA, commercial clients). Requires Bachelor’s or higher, 10+ years in leadership, 5+ years direct reports, and willingness to work 100% onsite in Huntsville, AL; travel up to 25% and eligibility for relocation. Experience in avionics architecture, sensors/actuators, onboard computing, RTOS, and knowledge of space-launch vehicle systems (GNC and telemetry) are highly preferred.
