Job Summary
Senior Program Manager, Financial Reporting responsible for financial statements filed with underwriters, senior management, the audit committee, and DC Water’s Board of Directors. Oversees preparation of financial reports, internal controls, and related footnote disclosures; ensures compliance with GAAP, GASB, and other relevant standards; collaborates with internal audit, external auditors, and accounting policy teams; develops and updates accounting policies; supports Board materials and senior management with timely reporting; performs technical accounting research and analyzes changes in GASB or other regulations; leads special projects to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting; minimal supervision with no direct reports. Requires deep knowledge of GAAP/GASB, CPA certification, and a Bachelor’s in a related field; experience with ERP systems and ability to prepare complex accounting analyses and memos; strong communication and organizational skills. Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA and prior Big Four experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management (or a related field)
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressive GAAP/GASB accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning experience
- CPA certification
- Expert knowledge of GAAP and GASB
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, management, and negotiation skills
- ERP proficiency and advanced computer skills (spreadsheets, databases, presentations)
- Experience preparing technical accounting reports and supporting memos
