Job Summary
Coordinate counterterrorism preparedness programs, including drafting agendas, moderating interagency forums, and preparing briefing materials for senior officials. Manage liaison activities with U.S. government agencies and foreign embassies, facilitating negotiations regarding terrorist detentions and resettlement processes. Develop and maintain knowledge assets, action item libraries, and historical records while providing ad hoc support for crisis response exercises and National Security Memorandum directives. Deliver monthly status reports, fiscal accountability documentation, and project management oversight to ensure program execution aligns with Department of State priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Eight years general experience
- Expert knowledge of and no less than five years' experience, working with the Department of State
- Knowledge and experience working within the National Security Memorandum 2 (NSPM-2), counterterrorism related Presidential Policy Directives and NSPM frameworks, and U.S. government interagency collective
- Knowledge and experience in working within the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) technical field and its ongoing initiatives
- A strong background in military operations — experience in any capacity
- Experience in intra-office coordination and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures
- Ability to keep agendas, schedules, and detailed records of office events and meetings
- Strong notetaking skills with the ability to write meeting summaries
- Ability to maintain schedules
- Experience in drafting policy papers and other official documents
- Familiarity with the paper-writing process
- Experience with diplomatic missions overseas
- Experience in crisis management and counterterrorism
- Supervisory responsibilities
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required
- Must be able to obtain access to military installations
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must have acceptable background check results
- Must be available for domestic and international travel a few times per year
- Must be able to bend, stoop, sit, walk or stand for prolonged periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally, the candidate will have served at a higher headquarters level within the military or the State Department
