Job Summary
Senior Professional Transportation Engineer leading and growing Alliant's City/County Design practice in Minnesota. Responsibilities include leading preliminary and final design for municipal/county transportation projects (roadway reconstructions, municipal utility replacements, stormwater improvements, urban street enhancements), providing technical leadership across all design phases, mentoring staff, coordinating with cross-disciplinary teams, and ensuring QA/QC. Requires a Civil Engineering background, PE license, 7+ years transportation design experience, proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer/AutoCAD Civil 3D, and strong client-facing communication. The role emphasizes leadership, design coordination with multiple groups, and delivering high-quality projects on schedule. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field)
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- 7+ years transportation design experience producing layouts, plans, specs, and estimates
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and transportation design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Strong communication and leadership skills with an emphasis on mentoring and client service
- Experience with MnDOT State Aid standards and local municipal specifications (preferred)
- Ability to lead and mentor staff across project stages and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for delivering high-quality work on schedule
- Ability to present technical concepts to clients and the public in understandable terms
