Job Summary
Conduct senior professional bridge and structural engineering work, including developing CAD plans, performing field inspections, preparing cost estimates, and generating structural analysis calculations. Review drawings for compliance, mentor junior engineers, and prepare technical reports and design packages. Verify site characteristics to ensure structural soundness against environmental and human loads while adhering to safety guidelines and company policies. Complete required training and exercise ethical decision-making regarding resources. Work schedules may extend beyond the typical workweek for project-specific requirements, with occasional local travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- 5-7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience
- Engineer license required
- Proficient in engineering analysis, design, and practices, including rehabilitation and new design
- Proficient in or strong knowledge of process and concepts for design/build
- Knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies
- Proficient in technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, LEAP Bridge, LARSA, STAAD Pro, AASHTOWare BrR)
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
- Occasional local travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately
Desired Qualifications
- Multi-state Engineer license
- Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
