Job Summary
Execute new and renewal underwriting decisions for luxury condo, co-op, and fine dining restaurant risks while adhering to designated authority and underwriting guidelines. Plan and budget the book of business, track performance metrics, and monitor production quality measures such as hit ratios and renewal retention. Develop lasting relationships with broker partners through visits and regular communication, negotiating profitable outcomes and providing consultative risk management guidance. Prepare quotes, answer external inquiries, and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. This role reports to the Director of Underwriting and focuses on profitably growing the book of business within the DC/Baltimore/Northern VA or Ohio remote locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job-related experience
- Minimum of 5 years underwriting experience
- Demonstrated technical underwriting expertise and product specific knowledge (Property, Liability, Auto, and Umbrella)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
- Solid knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and to independently prioritize competing demands/requests within given time constraints
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and effectively make sound business decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
