Job Summary
Senior Production Technician responsible for overseeing and coordinating the technical aspects of theatre productions, rentals, and events. Serves as the main point of contact for all events, advances production details, loads in/out, and collaborates with agency representatives and clients. Duties include programming/operating sound and lighting boards, building scenery, maintaining equipment, managing inventories, scheduling technical crews, and supporting live-streaming and hybrid experiences. Requires hands-on work, flexibility to work evenings/weekends, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced theatre environment. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in a technical production-related field; minimum high school diploma or GED with four years of experience. Strong technical knowledge across lighting, sound, automation, rigging, and related software (QLab, Dante, EOS, Lightwright/Vectorworks) and excellent customer service, planning, and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum four years of hands-on, professional event production experience in theatre/theatre production or equivalent education/experience
- Thorough knowledge of lighting, sound, scenery, automation, rigging, computer networks and media equipment; maintenance/repair
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, climb stairs and ladders, work long hours, and have a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Proficiency with standard theatre production software (QLab, Dante, EOS, Lightwright/Vectorworks, digital audio mixing) and general computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to engage effectively with internal and external space users and maintain strong customer service values
