Job Summary
Optimize plant operations and resolve technical issues by leveraging historical data and subject matter expertise to ensure Most Effective Technology is applied. Diagnose root causes of asset utilization losses, review daily logbooks and alarm histories, and maintain Key Process Indicators to drive process performance improvement. Respond urgently to emergencies, act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events, and lead corrective actions to enhance Raw Material Efficiency. This onsite role in Kankakee, IL, supports the Dow Coating Materials business, which operates 35 global manufacturing plants and serves the architectural and industrial coatings industry.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant experience in chemical manufacturing or closely related experience
- The ability to work legally in the United States
- Willingness and ability to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to safely work in a plant environment
- Ability to work at elevated heights
- Ability to comfortably use PPE and safety equipment
- Ability to wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes
- Ability to perform infrequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders
- Ability to respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies
- Ability to act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events
- Ability to drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions
- Ability to provide leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency
- Ability to ensure compliance with plant operating permits
- Ability to understand site integration and provide input to optimize the overall system
