Job Summary
Define the microbial portfolio strategy by serving as the company's expert on customer workflows and challenges. Lead customer discovery, market research, and competitive analysis to build a prioritized roadmap from concept through launch. Partner with R&D, Engineering, Commercial, and Lab teams to translate insights into scalable sequencing products for bacterial, yeast, and metagenomics applications. Work closely with Marketing and Sales to develop positioning, launch plans, and commercial strategy while monitoring portfolio performance to drive revenue and adoption.
Required Qualifications
- PhD preferred (or other advanced degree) in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience launching products or services that deliver clear customer value
- Deep understanding of microbial research, customer segments, and sequencing applications
- Direct experience researching bacteria, yeast, viruses, microbial communities, or related systems
- Strong product management fundamentals, including customer research, market analysis, prioritization, roadmap development, pricing strategy, and business case modeling
- Technical familiarity with long- and short-read sequencing technologies, associated library preparation methods, and downstream data analysis
- Familiarity with microbiology laboratory methods
- Experience spanning the sequencing workflow from sample preparation through data analysis
