Job Summary
Lead design validation and engineering quality activities during New Product Development, including DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, and safety assessments to mitigate risks before tooling and production release. Define and execute design verification plans aligned with product requirements and regulatory standards, while conducting critical analysis of engineering changes to prevent performance degradation. Serve as the quality voice in cross-functional teams, managing input trackers, leading risk surface meetings, and coordinating CAPA activities tied to pre-production gaps. Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to establish process controls and support suppliers in 8D responses and quality resolution reviews. Analyze pre-production build data and test failures to identify systemic design or process risks, implementing continuous improvement solutions and presenting validation status to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product Development, Human Factors Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of engineering experience with direct involvement in design verification and validation activities, preferably in consumer goods
- Hands-on experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, and engineering change management
- Demonstrated understanding of product development lifecycles, document and design change control, and verification and validation methodologies
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills
- Strong communication skills — able to present clearly to all levels of the organization, from engineering teams to senior executives
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- SharePoint knowledge
- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Collaborative team player. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Please note this will be an ONSITE position in our Needham, HQ location (M-F)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience at a consumer goods company (including internships) with high-volume, rapid NPD cycles
- Familiarity with supplier quality processes including PPAP and incoming quality controls
- Exposure to human factors engineering or usability validation methods
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; SharePoint knowledge a plus
