Job Summary
Develop new complex flexible packaging products while resolving end-use performance issues and ensuring successful manufacturing at assigned COEs. Lead multi-COE project management with minimal guidance, representing American Packaging Corporation to customers and suppliers. Conduct material and process research, qualify new technologies, and manage in-plant technical trials through pre-trial planning and on-line manufacture. Maintain updated specification files for finished roll stock, pouches, die-lines, and raw materials including papers, films, and adhesives. Apply regulatory evaluations for food safety and participate in customer facility visits. Manage budgeting, continuous improvement, and NBO activity while interacting across all levels from hourly staff to Operations Managers. Requires Bachelor's degree in a technical field, experience with printing and laminations, and ability to handle multiple projects with strong follow-up skills. Business travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a Technical Field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) from a four-year college or university
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Skillful in presentation skills – both preparation and presentation
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
