Job Summary

Senior Producer, Video (Trust) at The New York Times leads and oversees video production for Trust-team initiatives that explain how journalism works, why we cover what we cover, and how decisions are made. Manages a small team to create explainers, Q&As, and other short-form videos across platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube) while aligning with NYT audience goals. Responsible for guiding story development, editing scripts, directing shoots and interviews, and ensuring visual strategy and production workflows translate complex reporting into accessible, engaging video. Collaboration with Trust, Standards, and cross-functional newsroom partners is required, with a strong emphasis on journalistic independence, credibility, and audience engagement. In-office in New York four days a week with some remote flexibility per departmental guidance; reports to the Director of Video.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years producing digital news videos
  • 3+ years experience managing or supervising members of a video team
  • Experience in digital or broadcast news
  • Understanding of Times standards of journalistic excellence and truthfulness
  • Understanding of mainstream and emerging social channels
  • Demonstrated news judgment
  • Ability to approach the full range of trust and credibility issues facing The Times
  • Rock-solid judgment, a high-level understanding of what The Times considers fair and independent journalism
