Job Summary
Senior Produce Buyer responsible for forecasting and purchasing produce to sustain inventory levels, negotiating costs with suppliers to meet product specs, achieving service level and gross profit targets, analyzing inventory to optimize turns, leveraging supplier knowledge to capitalize on opportunities, participating in weekly pricing meetings for wholesale/retail, ensuring PO accuracy, managing new item ordering and vendor setups for speed to market, and building strong vendor relationships to ensure supply and pricing programs while maintaining compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 10 years produce experience
- Experience in a purchasing role preferred
- Product knowledge of produce items
- Knowledge of warehouse functions, billing, and receiving procedure
- Solid financial, mathematical, statistical, marketing, merchandising, and consumer research background
