Job Summary
Develop and implement sourcing plans to meet procurement needs while identifying and evaluating potential suppliers. Negotiate contracts for pricing and terms to achieve cost savings, then draft, review, and administer agreements to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Monitor supplier performance, conduct risk assessments, and address identified exposures through follow-up with internal stakeholders. Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities and stay informed of market trends to identify process improvements. Respond to inquiries promptly and provide mentorship to foster a culture of continuous learning. This role supports departmental initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs within FortisBC's energy delivery operations.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of recent and related procurement experience.
- Knowledge of markets and Supply Chain Management best practices and trends.
- Ability to develop sourcing plan and perform procurement of a complex nature that requires knowledge of and experience with Canadian procurement law, analyzing costs & risks, preparing requests for proposal/quotation, evaluating bids and negotiating contracts.
- Strong working knowledge of procurement procedures and practices.
- Sound analytical, organization, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal clients and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment in a courteous, professional manner.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products as well as Sharepoint, Outlook, Visio and Teams.
- In this role, you may have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
Desired Qualifications
- A recognized supply chain management designation such as SCMP, CSCL, CSCP, or CPSM is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of materials resource planning and forecasting would be an asset.
- Sound working knowledge of SAP MM module in an integrated environment would be an asset.
