Job Summary
Senior Process Engineer for Seats Production responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance. Leads process design and optimization, conducts time studies and line balancing, and implements lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S, SMED). Designs plant layouts, improves material flow, and optimizes logistics within the plant using kanban systems and related practices. Performs capacity planning and resource management, supports capital investments for equipment, and drives cost analysis and continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and increase productivity. Monitors KPIs such as cycle time, OEE, and scrap rates; ensures processes comply with quality standards and integrates ergonomics and safety into process design; supports root cause analysis for process-related defects. Participates in DFM/A reviews and launch readiness by validating process capability, and prepares Process FMEA, work instructions, and standard operating procedures. Requires 12+ years automotive manufacturing experience with Bachelor's degree, 8 years with Master's degree, or 5 years with PhD or equivalent experience; experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ERP systems, just-in-time manufacturing, and automotive OEM exposure; strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills; familiarity with trim line processes and automotive interior components; proficient in Microsoft Office and production planning software; must be capable of shift work (days, nights, weekends).
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years automotive manufacturing experience
- Bachelor's degree
- 8 years with Master's degree OR 5 years with PhD or equivalent experience
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems
- Automotive OEM experience preferred
- Experience with Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing
- Proven leadership and ability to manage cross-functional teams
- Strong knowledge of trim line processes and automotive interior components
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production planning software
