Job Summary
Direct the site process team and drive injection molding continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle times, scrap reduction, quality, and material cost savings. Develop execution plans for process improvements, manage new product launch tooling, and lead projects involving equipment justification, selection, installation, and machine utilization studies. Act as a root cause problem solver using logical methodologies and data to address processing issues, while enforcing daily safety rules and intervening to correct unsafe conditions. Collaborate with the Tooling Manager on repairs, maintain project documentation, and develop training programs for technicians and mold changers to reduce change times and troubleshooting efforts. Prioritize work schedules to complete employee development plans and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams to identify capital improvement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's level degree, preferably in Plastics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 5-7 Minimum Years of Experience with injection molding process
- 5-9 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry
- Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Exceptional understanding of injection molding processes
- Exceptional understanding and experience performing mold change requirements; experience using the use of SMED methods
- Extensive hands on experience with injection molding equipment, robotics, and auxiliary equipment
- Proven mechanical aptitude for problem solving
- Proven process and tolling engineering excellence in the automotive industry
Desired Qualifications
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
- RJG Master Molder I and II preferred
