Job Summary
Senior Privacy Counsel at Verkada to help build global privacy and AI programs from the ground up. On-site in San Mateo, CA, reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer. Lead/advise on global privacy laws and AI/ML regulations, develop and govern the Privacy program, lead Responsible AI governance, provide privacy legal counsel to Product and Engineering teams, draft and maintain form agreements (DPA/BAAs, security terms), oversee compliance auditing, manage incident response and regulatory inquiries, and advocate for data privacy and security internally and externally. Requires J.D. from ABA-approved school, 8+ years of privacy experience (in-house preferred), expertise in privacy/biometrics/AI/ML regulations, experience with global technology companies, ability to advise on global transactions and policy matters, strong communication skills, and willingness to commute to the office five days a week.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
- 8+ years of privacy experience, preferably with at least 4 years in-house counsel at a B2B technology company
- Expertise in data privacy, biometrics, and AI/ML regulations with ability to identify emerging trends
- Experience advising multinational, complex fast-growing global companies with hardware and software products
- Experience advising on global transactions involving privacy issues, data sharing, AI/ML, and privacy law/regulations
- Experience advising on global policy matters and regulatory developments
- Strong communication skills and ability to bridge technical and non-technical partners
- Ability to translate ambiguous spaces into clear next steps and drive alignment
- Must be willing and able to commute 5 days in office.
