Job Summary
Senior/Principal Wind Energy Yield Analyst to lead long-term energy yield assessments (P50/P90/P99) for onshore and offshore wind projects. Lead wind resource modelling using industry-standard tools (WAsP, WindFarmer, OpenWind, WindPRO) and oversee met mast, LiDAR, SoDAR, and SCADA data analysis with rigorous QC and uncertainty quantification. Manage large datasets, apply advanced statistical analysis and MCP methodologies, and design measurement campaigns. Provide technical input into site selection, turbine micro-siting, and layout optimization; produce bankable reports for lenders and investors. Mentor junior analysts, ensure methodological consistency, and lead tool/workflow improvements. Collaborate with development, engineering, environmental, and commercial teams; translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders. Participate in cross-functional projects and client engagements, and contribute to ongoing business development and governance. The role emphasizes hybrid work options in Edinburgh, Scotland, and requires a strong foundation in wind energy yield modelling, data analytics, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Renewable Energy, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
- Proven experience in wind energy yield assessment (onshore, offshore, or both)
- Advanced proficiency in resource modelling tools (WAsP, WindFarmer, OpenWind, WindPRO; CFD tools)
- Strong statistical analysis skills and MCP methods and uncertainty frameworks
- Experience with met mast and LiDAR data analysis, campaign design, and validation
- Understanding of turbine technologies, wake effects, and performance analytics
- Strong communication skills for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience producing bankable reports for lenders/investors or due diligence
- Experience with offshore wind–specific modelling (complex wake environments, floating LiDAR)
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or R for analytics
- Experience with SCADA-based energy assessments
- Knowledge of ESG or grid integration considerations for wind assets
- Experience carrying out solar energy yield assessments
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
