Job Summary
Apply safety engineering principles per MIL-STD-882 and JSSSEH to support system and software certification under DO-178/DO-254 standards. Prepare System Safety Engineering analyses including PHAs, FHAs, SHAs, Bent Pin Analyses, Fault Tree Analyses, and Software System Safety Analyses. Identify safety issues, propose solutions, and ensure mitigation actions are taken. Develop, review, update, and approve System Safety Artifacts and System Safety Requirements. Track hazards using a closed-loop Hazard Tracking System and communicate project status to the CAM and IPT Lead. This fully onsite role in Woodland Hills, CA operates on a 9/80 schedule and is contingent on program award.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Master's degree in STEM discipline
- 6 years of relevant experience
- PhD. in STEM discipline
- 4 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply system safety engineering principles in accordance with MIL-STD-882
- Experience with preliminary hazard analyses
- Experience with function/system/subsystem hazard analyses
- Experience with fault tree analyses
- Experience with software system safety analyses
- Experience with safety assessment reports
- Experience using DO-178
- Experience using DO-254
- Experience using JSSSEH
- Ability to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to develop, review, update and approve system safety artifacts
- Ability to develop, review, update and approve system safety requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance
- Possess active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
- U.S. Government Secret clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with requirements tools such as DOORS, Cameo, PLM Systems
- Familiarity with Safety and Reliability tools such as PTC Windchill Quality Solutions
- Familiarity with Agile software tools
- Familiarity with JIRA
- Familiarity with Confluence
- Demonstrated expertise in the application of Military systems safety and process standards and their Industry equivalent such as: MIL-STD-882, DO-178B/C, DO-248, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, MIL-HDBK-516C, etc.
- Experience in Agile
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
- Experience with generating or reviewing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Experience with FMEA
