Job Summary
Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant to lead the UK building certification team, delivering certification projects (BREEAM, WELL) and supporting decarbonisation targets. You will manage bids, provide technical guidance, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, mentor junior consultants, ensure internal quality assurance, and present findings. Responsibilities include designing and delivering sustainability strategies, analysing large datasets, translating findings into robust outputs, and contributing to business development and client-facing engagements across diverse projects in real estate, energy and infrastructure. The role requires leadership with a track record in building certification schemes, ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through certification processes, and strong communication to present technical results to clients.
Required Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, building services or related discipline
- Demonstrable expertise in building certification schemes
- Strong grounding in environmental impact assessment and environmental science
- 5+ years’ experience in sustainability consulting within the built environment
- Licensed BREEAM Assessor
- Proven experience delivering certification projects and leading or mentoring teams
- Experience integrating low carbon and climate resilient design solutions
- Commercial awareness related to business development, marketing, and proposal writing
- Excellent communication skills and proactive problem-solving abilities
