Job Summary
Senior/Principal Sustainability Consultant leading UK building certification projects (BREEAM/WELL) and decarbonisation initiatives; responsibilities include leading certification deliveries, guiding bids and tenders, mentoring junior staff, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, and delivering concise technical reports and strategic sustainability advice across complex portfolios. Requires extensive experience in building certification schemes (BREEAM/WELL), ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, support business development, and apply low-carbon design solutions in real estate and infrastructure projects. Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, building services or related discipline
- Demonstrable expertise in building certification schemes
- Strong grounding in environmental impact assessment and environmental science
- 5+ years’ experience in sustainability consulting within the built environment
- Licensed BREEAM Assessor
- Proven experience delivering certification projects and leading or mentoring teams
- Experience integrating low carbon and climate resilient design solutions
- Commercial awareness related to business development, marketing, and proposal writing
- Excellent communication skills and proactive problem-solving abilities
