Job Summary
Senior/Principal Machine Learning Scientist in Perturbation Biology within the AI for Biology & Translation group at Genentech (gRED/pRED). Develop next-generation ML models to derive actionable insights from large-scale perturbation experiments for drug and target discovery. Integrate diverse data modalities (molecular structures, omics, images, text), lead high-profile projects with therapeutic-area leads, collaborate across biology, chemistry, and data science, scale ML techniques to massive datasets, and publish results in top-tier venues.
Required Qualifications
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or in physical/life sciences with strong quantitative focus
- Experience: Senior ML Scientist 0-2 years post-PhD OR Principal ML Scientist 2-7 years post-PhD
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow)
- Strong background in statistics, probabilistic modeling, data analysis
- Publications in top ML venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV)
- Preferred: predictive modeling of perturbation datasets, generative modeling on molecules, multimodal data integration
