Job Summary
Design and implement an enterprise-grade Developer Portal using Backstage to enable self-service infrastructure provisioning and standardization. Build and maintain Backstage plugins, scaffolder templates, and workflow automation while developing an executable blueprint orchestration layer integrated with enterprise systems. Integrate the platform with CI/CD, infrastructure, and security tooling including Jenkins, Terraform, Vault, ArgoCD, and GitOps workflows. Define software catalog structures, ownership models, and metadata standards to drive API-first orchestration across cloud and identity services. Implement RBAC, authentication, and authorization integrations such as OAuth and SSO. Collaborate with platform, cloud, and security teams to establish best practices for internal developer portals and blueprint lifecycle management. Work within a flexible hybrid model of three days onsite and two days remote.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to deliver production-ready platform capabilities in partnership with architecture, engineering, security, and operations teams
- Hands-on background across developer tooling, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, identity integration, API automation, and cloud-native platforms
- Min 7+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or related technology delivery experience
- Strong expertise in Backstage platform development and internal developer portal implementation
- Proven experience building custom Backstage plugins, templates, scaffolder actions, and scaffolder workflows
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React
- Experience integrating Backstage with enterprise tooling such as Jenkins, Terraform, TechRadar, GitHub or Bitbucket, Vault, ArgoCD, and GitOps workflows
- Strong understanding of developer self-service platforms, internal developer portals, and platform engineering practices
- Experience with API-driven orchestration, workflow automation, and reusable infrastructure or application blueprints
- Experience implementing RBAC and enterprise authentication patterns including OAuth, SSO, and related identity integrations
- Solid understanding of software catalog models, service metadata, ownership, lifecycle, and blueprint concepts
- Flexible/hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays and a third day unique to each team or employee)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience integrating Backstage with Kubernetes or OpenShift in an AWS environment
- Familiarity with platform engineering operating models, golden paths, paved roads, and developer experience metrics
- Experience operating in large-scale enterprise environments with complex governance, security, and integration requirements
- Financial services experience is preferred but not required
