Job Summary
Senior/Principal Engineer – Bridges responsible for leading delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects. Key duties include bridge design in the UK and overseas, bridge management, strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments, feasibility studies, option appraisals, preparation of fee estimates and drawings, health and safety risk assessments, and supervision of junior staff and CAD technicians. Requires practical experience in bridge design, maintenance, and assessment, project management of bridge projects, and familiarity with Eurocodes, DMRB, and MCDHW. Proficient in grillage, space frame and finite element analysis tools (LUSAS, Superstress, SAM), with strong communication and client handling skills. Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer experience is expected, with openness to applying experience to other opportunities within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer preferred
- Bridge design and maintenance experience
- Project management experience in bridge projects
- Experience with design, maintenance and supervision of bridge structures
- Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW
- Experience with Eurocodes
- Experience with steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete bridges
- Experience with grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software (LUSAS, Superstress, SAM)
- Good communication and client handling skills
