Job Summary
Senior Principal Architect at JPMorganChase within Corporate Technology’s Enterprise Architecture team leads cross-team efforts to define and advance durable, scalable IT Infrastructure frameworks. Responsibilities include advising executives and leading architecture review boards, serving as a subject matter expert in Cloud & Infrastructure (including cloud-native, on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud), driving adoption of advanced methodologies, establishing governance, creating reusable software frameworks, evaluating emerging technologies and vendors, and guiding proof-of-concept initiatives. Requires formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 10+ years of experience, extensive cloud and infrastructure expertise, and certifications such as TOGAF/AWS/Azure/GCP; ability to communicate complex technical issues to leadership and influence across functions. The role emphasizes governance, strategic architecture, and technology evaluation to enable durable, scalable enterprise solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
- Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Expertise in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture disciplines
- Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver modern architecture
- Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex architecture problems across various technical disciplines
- Extensive practical cloud-native, on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud experience
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best technology solutions and approaches to achieve the future state architecture
- Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver modern architecture
- Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex architecture problems across various technical disciplines
- Extensive practical cloud native experience
- Relevant Architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, ITIL, CISSP, PMP)
- Expertise in “Infrastructure as Code” provisioning, automation, and policy enforcement frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Open Policy Agent/OPA/Rego)
- 5+ years applied experience in software-defined infrastructure
- 2+ years applied experience in software engineering
- Experience with budgeting and evaluating cost savings opportunities
- Strong ability to translate complex technical issues for leadership
- Ability to lead governance bodies and ensure compliance with architecture decision records
