Job Summary
Report daily on Asian iron ore markets by gathering price information from primary participants, conducting real-time assessments, and publishing news and analysis. Engage with market stakeholders across China, Asia, Europe, and the Americas to develop methodology and present findings. Translate gathered data into written content and digital media while maintaining source relationships and flagging internal price trend changes. Requires fluency in English and Mandarin, extensive China market engagement, and experience in metals or commodities reporting. Based in Singapore, this role supports global coverage of ferrous and nonferrous markets within S&P Global Energy's Metals Pricing team.
Required Qualifications
- Desire to take ownership of a commodity market in informational and source relationship terms
- Tenacity to produce daily content in terms of price assessments, market commentaries and news stories
- Given extensive engagement with China market participants
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin is essential
- Ability to collaborate with others in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment
- Energy, drive and ambition to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Critical thinking abilities
- Strong sense of initiative and attention to detail
- Conscientious user of Excel
- Experience in metals, commodity or financial markets in a reporting or analytical role
