Job Summary
Report daily on Asian iron ore markets by gathering price information, testing data accuracy, and publishing real-time assessments. Engage with primary market participants across Asia, Europe, and the Americas to understand supply-demand fundamentals and present findings virtually or in person. Translate gathered intelligence into written commentaries, news stories, and digital media while maintaining source relationships and contributing to price assessment methodology development. Flag emerging price trends and opportunities internally to support the Metals Pricing team's global coverage of ferrous and nonferrous markets.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of role types and personalities, internally and externally
- Self-starter mindset with effective problem-solving skills
- Research abilities
- Ability to perform well under tight deadlines
- Culturally and socially sensitive
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Desire to take ownership of a commodity market in informational and source relationship terms
- Proven experience in metals, commodity or financial markets in a reporting or analytical role
- Tenacity to produce daily content in terms of price assessments, market commentaries and news stories
- Given extensive engagement with China market participants, fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin is essential
- Ability to collaborate with others in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment
- Energy, drive and ambition to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Critical thinking abilities, strong sense of initiative and attention to detail
- Conscientious user of Excel
