Job Summary
Senior Precision Grinder on first shift responsible for surface and OD grinding to hold flatness, parallelism, concentricity, and runout as per blueprints. Responsibilities include setting up own jobs, selecting and dressing wheels, performing in-process inspection, and applying GD&T. Must read prints, dress wheels, and bring parts in to spec, with a focus on holding tolerances to 0.0001 inches. The role emphasizes ownership of work, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement in a small, in-person shop environment. First shift, full-time in a clean, air-conditioned facility; salary based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 10+ years of precision grinding experience in a toolroom or short-run job shop
- Hands-on experience with precision hand grinders, spin fixtures and wet grinders
- Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances on flatness, parallelism, concentricity, and runout
- Strong wheel selection and dressing skills across materials and finishes
- Solid blueprint reading and applied GD&T knowledge
- Comfortable with standard toolroom metrology — micrometers, indicators, height gauges, surface plates, surface-finish testers
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and team-minded
