Senior Power System Engineer - ERCOT Interconnection

Job Summary
Lead generation interconnection efforts within the ERCOT footprint, serving as the technical expert for energy resource interconnection processes. Identify optimal grid interconnection strategies and perform EMT studies, model benchmarking, and advanced large-load power system modeling in accordance with IEEE, ISO, and Utility guidelines. Create and validate PSS/E, PSCAD, and TSAT plant models for Solar PV, BESS, Wind, and conventional projects, while conducting specialized grid studies including Reactive Power Compensation and protection coordination. Mentor junior Power Systems Engineers and represent EPE at technical meetings. Support business development by preparing scopes of work and proposals. Requires 5+ years of power systems engineering experience with deep ERCOT interconnection process knowledge, PSCAD and PSS/E modeling expertise, and hands-on Model Quality Testing experience. This role is central to shaping interconnection strategy and supporting the growth of the organization's power systems practice.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer supporting generation and transmission interconnection
- Well-versed in the interconnection process of ERCOT from the initial filing of the interconnection application through commercial operations
- PSCAD and PSS/E modeling experience
- Hands-on ERCOT Model Quality Testing (MQT) experience
- Proven team player with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
- Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
- Have high standards in producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters
- Strong customer focus, both internal and external
- Must be able to travel occasionally (10% or less)
