Job Summary
Senior Power Electronics Engineer responsible for architectural design, schematic implementation, and integration of high-power grid-connected converters for utility-scale energy storage, data centers, and industrial electrification. Lead hand-on bring-up, testing, and iterative hardware revisions; collaborate with firmware/controls, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing teams; apply DFX/DFM/DFT/DFC to enable high-yield mass production; design for manufacturability and cost reduction; work with NPI and production teams to establish robust production flows and testing configurations; require proficiency in power electronics topology (DAB, MMCs, resonant topologies, SSTs), high-power magnetic design, thermal management integration, control algorithms, and lab instrumentation. Emphasizes agile, self-motivated, organized, and discrete work style, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Location: On-Site in Marietta/Atlanta, GA.
Required Qualifications
- MS or PhD in power electronics or closely related field
- 5+ years of industry experience with MS or 3+ years with PhD in developing high-power, high-voltage converters (kW to multi-MW scale)
- Mass production & commercial release experience: taking a complex electronics product from concept through prototyping, regulatory certifications, and hand-off to high-volume production
- DFX principles expertise (Design for Excellence, bottlenecks, CO SG reduction, yield improvements)
- Converter-level expertise from topology selection to certified commercial product
- Understanding of semiconductor switching physics, device capacitance dynamics, wide bandgap devices, safe operating area and thermal constraints
- Parasitics and high-frequency circuit dynamics on multi-layer PCBs and power modules
- Control of power converters: DSP, grid-following/ forming inverter control methodologies
- Laboratory & instrumentation proficiency with HV lab environment tools
- Schematic capture, multi-physics thermal/magnetic simulation, and circuit simulators (PLECS, SPICE, LTspice, Simulink)
- Experience with MV systems up to 13-kV/35-kV classes and partial discharge mitigation
- Familiarity with PLM structures and BOM/ECO management
- Experience with utility-scale grid-tied systems, switchgear, protective relays
- Knowledge of international grid codes (UL, IEEE, IEC)
- Proven track record of bringing high-power electronics hardware from concept to mass production
