Job Summary
Senior Portfolio Analyst for the Equity Income Team at 1832 Asset Management L.P., focusing on the Financials sector across Canadian, U.S. and global markets. Responsibilities include analyzing financial information to assess current and future performance, evaluating quarterly/annual reports and regulatory filings, consolidating information into accessible formats, drafting succinct research reports for stock selection, developing sector expertise, maintaining a “recommended list,” supporting other analysts/PMs, and collaborating across 1832 Asset Management. The role requires staying current on political and economic trends, conducting company and industry research from diverse sources, and contributing to sector discussions. Qualifications emphasize a university degree (preferably with a post-graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business or related field), 3+ years of buy/sell-side securities analysis experience (ideally in Financials), CFA charter/active CFA program preferred, strong financial modelling and advanced Excel/Office skills, familiarity with investment systems (e.g., Bloomberg, CPMS, Charles River), ability to use AI tools to augment research, excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, ability to travel for industry seminars and company meetings.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree preferably with a post-graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business (or related field)
- Minimum 3 years related buy or sell-side securities analysis experience
- CFA Charterholder or active enrollment in CFA program preferred
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Experience with investment systems (e.g. Bloomberg, CPMS, Charles River)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)
- Ability to use AI tools to complement research efforts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret research and make investment recommendations
- Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across teams

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to cope with stress and prioritize multiple tasks
