Job Summary
Senior Plumbing Design Engineer in Boston leads project teams through the full lifecycle of complex building plumbing and fire protection designs, delivering code-compliant solutions while mentoring staff and fostering client relationships. Responsible for deliverables including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications; oversees design calculations, equipment selection, and site visits; applies building codes and plumbing standards, coordinates interdisciplinary work, and may serve as Project Manager or Engineer of Record. Proficient in mechanical and plumbing system design with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree for discipline work or equivalent experience
- Relevant professional credential (i.e., PE, CPD)
- Minimum 1-3 years as a Plumbing Design Lead, or 6-10 years’ related work experience
- Proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and standards (UPC, IPC, NFPA, IBC)
- Experience leading project teams and client coordination
- ability to develop project workplans and mentor staff
