Senior Platform Engineer - Developer Experience

Job Summary
Build and maintain internal tools, services, APIs, and command-line applications to improve workflows across coding, testing, code review, and deployment. Create service templates and paved roads that enable secure, observable, and reliable software while enhancing CI/CD speed and usability. Develop reusable platform capabilities and observability defaults that product engineers consume through self-service. Work directly with engineers to identify friction, validate ideas, and measure adoption using feedback and workflow data. Contribute production-quality code, tests, and documentation while owning problems from discovery through delivery. Join the established Platform team to give teams sensible defaults and effective self-service tools, accelerating software development at 9fin.
Required Qualifications
- strong software engineer with experience designing, building, testing and operating production software
- proficient in at least one modern programming language
- understand the software development lifecycle and have practical experience improving how software is built, tested, deployed or operated
- strong opinions about what makes software development effective, while remaining pragmatic about different teams and contexts
- can design maintainable systems and make sensible trade-offs between speed, quality and complexity
- experience with CI/CD, containers and cloud infrastructure
- enjoy building tools and platforms for other engineers
- take a product approach to internal tooling: understanding user needs, validating solutions and measuring adoption
- can independently own a problem from discovery through to delivery and adoption
- communicate clearly through code, documentation and technical discussions
- have a real appetite for learning and self-improvement
Desired Qualifications
- AWS and infrastructure as code
- Building internal developer platforms, developer portals, CLIs or service templates
- Observability using tools such as OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch or SigNoz
- Reliability engineering, incident response or production operations
- Experience in fintech or another regulated environment
