Job Summary
Senior Platform Engineer on the Data Platform team responsible for designing, implementing, and migrating data models, Postgres schemas, and data access patterns to power transactional and analytic workloads. You’ll work across Product Engineering, Analytics, ML, and Platform to ensure data quality, usability, scalability, and security, while mentoring engineers and driving improvements to data tooling and documentation. The role involves hands-on backend and data engineering (Python/Typescript), maintaining AWS-based infrastructure, reviewing SQL and data access code, and partnering with teams to execute safe migrations. The position supports hybrid work (NY-based) and remote work across time zones.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Backend or Data Platform Engineering
- 3+ years of experience writing production-level SQL and backend code
- Recent expertise with Python as a primary programming language
- Experience with data modeling concepts (e.g., dimensional modeling, data vault)
- Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch)
- Proven ability to break down large problems and deliver incremental value
- Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems
- Familiarity with AI-enabled developer productivity tooling
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced startup environment
- Hands-on experience participating in an on-call rotation
