Job Summary
Conduct thorough research and analysis of zoning regulations, land development codes, and comprehensive plans to provide expert guidance on land use and development projects. Lead and coordinate the planning process for various projects, including preparing applications, attending meetings with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and public hearings to gather input from stakeholders and promote transparent communication throughout the planning process. Prepare and present planning reports, represent projects before municipal boards, and provide expert testimony and guidance throughout the approval process. Cultivate strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide exceptional planning services. Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in urban planning and land use policies to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative planning strategies.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field
- Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)
- New York Planning Licensure
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in urban planning or a related field
- Proven track record of successfully managing planning projects from inception to completion
- Proficiency in conducting spatial analysis, land use assessments, and demographic studies using GIS software and other analytical tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively convey complex planning concepts to diverse audiences and stakeholders
