Job Summary
Develop capital investment strategies by analyzing asset conditions, prioritizing projects within the Twenty-Year Needs Assessment and Five-Year Capital Plan, and utilizing GIS and data visualization tools to create maps and presentation materials. Contribute to data-driven strategies for scoping capital investments across MTA's $1.5 trillion asset base, focusing initially on bus depots and facilities, while navigating large databases including asset inventories and climate risk data. Coordinate with MTA operating agencies and external partners to draft reports on programmatic performance metrics and special initiatives. Work 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (7.5 hours/day) with potential evening and weekend coverage, eligible for one day of telework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in City or Urban Planning, Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field
- Minimum of four (4) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
- Familiarity with MTA network, MTA Capital Program, and recent MTA bus policies preferred
- Passion for improving New York's public transit system
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve creatively
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-profile, high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
- Strong data analysis and data visualization skills, including proficiency in MS Office, visualization tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Power BI, and spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro
