Job Summary
Conduct piping engineering designs and analysis for nuclear systems, including vibration monitoring, hydraulic transient evaluation, and pipe rupture assessments. Prepare and review complex calculations, equipment specifications, and documented design inputs for drawing production while monitoring assigned staff to ensure requirements are met. Develop project budgets, schedules, and work plans, and lead efforts to automate engineering workflows using modern tools and AI to reduce rework. Communicate technical information clearly to project teams and clients, delivering reports and summaries that meet client requirements. This role supports Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group in driving the future of clean, carbon-free energy through advanced reactor technology and plant modernization.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program, with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis
- 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes
- Knowledge of the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements
- Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, and write)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of spending three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days

Desired Qualifications
- P.E. license
- The ability to navigate a 3D CAD model
- Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software
- Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients
- Knowledge of pipe condition assessment
- Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
