Job Summary
Architect backend services and APIs for business-led content management, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability. Drive full-stack solutions by collaborating with DevOps to ensure scale and availability across content platforms, while developing services that enable editors to create visually-rich experiences. Integrate content classification ML/AI processes to annotate video and image assets, and modernize legacy systems into modern frameworks deployed on cloud-based infrastructure. Facilitate better content distribution by consolidating distinct CMS platforms and modeling complex data flows for editorial workflows. Provide engineering support through testing, monitoring, observability, and alerting to maintain high service availability. Mentor teams by contributing clear documentation and reviewing code for best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Strong PHP development experience
- Deep familiarity with the Symfony framework
- Composer package management
- Twig templating engine
- 3+ years of experience designing and writing content-driven GraphQL and REST APIs in microservices-based architectures
- Strong SQL skills
- Hands-on experience with popular open-source RDBMS
- Search technology such as Solr or Elasticsearch
- Experience with cloud architecture (ideally AWS)
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Design
- Strong ability to architect and develop enterprise-level applications and backend systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Experience working with agile processes and version control systems (Git)
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience building scalable, production-grade backend services and content platforms
- Strong proficiency in server-side languages, asynchronous programming, and modern object-oriented design patterns
- Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST and GraphQL) in microservices-based architectures
- Experience modeling complex data flows and schemas for transactional and integration workflows
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or OCI) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts including caching (Redis, Memcached) and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Strong debugging and performance troubleshooting skills, including use of monitoring/observability tools

Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to popular proprietary or open-source CMS systems such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or Magento

- 3+ years working with cloud technologies (AWS is strongly preferred)
- Cloud certifications (AWS, GCP, OCI)
- Working knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, and React/Next.js sufficient to collaborate on full-stack features and contribute to shared tooling
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS (layout, specificity, cross-browser compatibility), and Web Components
- Proven experience in cross-team collaboration for requirements, implementation, and testing
- Experience with AI development tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to optimize engineering workflows
- Enthusiasm for learning new frameworks and languages
