Job Summary
Design, implement, and improve backend functionality for JAGGAER's hosted B2B SaaS platform, focusing on performance, scalability, and data integrity within a large PHP monolith. Refactor legacy code, debug production issues, and write clean, maintainable PHP using Symfony and MySQL while leveraging AI-assisted workflows to accelerate development and testing. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative problem-solving with frontend engineers, QA, and Product Owners to drive continuous improvement and platform stability.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software development experience
- strong PHP expertise
- Experience in developing and maintaining large, long-lived PHP applications
- Experience with monolithic architectures
- Strong knowledge of Symfony or similar PHP frameworks
- Strong understanding of MySQL and relational database design
- Excellent knowledge of object-oriented programming
- Knowledge of SOLID principles
- Knowledge of design patterns
- Experience with Composer
- Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
- Hands-on experience in structuring codebase context
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and recommendations
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, international engineering environment
- Strong focus on software quality and long-term maintainability
- Good command of written and spoken English
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Desired Qualifications
- Frontend experience with JavaScript
- Experience with Backbone.js
- Experience with React
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Experience with caching technologies such as Memcached
- Exposure to large-scale SaaS platforms
- Exposure to high-availability systems
- Familiarity with observability, telemetry, or monitoring tools
