Job Summary
Lead migration of applications from PHP 7.3.33 to PHP 8.3+, analyzing legacy code to identify deprecated features and compatibility gaps. Refactor and optimize the codebase to align with PHP 8.x standards, upgrading frameworks, libraries, and dependencies for full compatibility. Improve error handling, typing, and performance while collaborating with QA and development teams to validate system stability. Ensure security, performance, and reliability post-migration, documenting all technical changes, resolutions, and architectural decisions. This permanent onsite role in Jordan supports a critical enterprise-level modernization initiative within a structured tech environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of professional PHP development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP 7.x and PHP 8.3+
- Proven track record migrating applications between major PHP versions
- Solid understanding of OOP principles
- Solid understanding of MVC architecture
- Solid understanding of Design patterns (Singleton, Factory, Repository, Dependency Injection)
- Solid understanding of Algorithms and data structures
- Deep knowledge of PHP 8.x breaking changes & deprecated features
- Deep knowledge of Error handling and performance optimization
- Strong SQL database experience (MSSQL preferred)
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON integrations
- Proficiency with Git
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, production-grade code
