Job Summary
Senior Photonic Integrated Circuit Design Engineer responsible for design, simulation, layout, and benchtop testing of PIC chips to support internal and external R&D contracts. Perform hands-on testing, troubleshoot PIC components, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to solve complex engineering problems. Independently drive projects to program schedules and budget; travel up to 10% with some overnight travel. Requires degree in STEM, 5+ years of relevant PIC design experience, and ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret U.S. government clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. Preferred candidates may hold an MS/PhD in Physics/Optics/Photonic engineering and experience with Silicon Nitride, III/V materials, PIC design/simulation tools (Lumerical, Optocompiler, COMSOL, KLayout), RF design software, and PIC device fabrication in a cleanroom with foundry processes. Strong communication and teamwork skills, self-motivation, and ability to work with minimal oversight.
