Senior Payroll Specialist with Finnish

Job Summary
Process monthly payroll input via external partners or Mepco tools, review test reports for accuracy, and remit payments to tax authorities and benefit providers. Maintain data integrity between Workday and payroll platforms while managing employee records, variable schemes, and pension policies per Finnish regulations. Serve as the central contact for payroll inquiries, conduct internal controls testing, and generate recurring payroll reports. Own the Finnish Payroll Playbook, drive process improvements, and support backup structures for the European function. Mentor junior colleagues, collaborate with Country HR and Finance teams, and represent the function in audits.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant payroll experience covering Finnish entities across various sectors incl. CBA-driven payroll
- Strong servicing mindset, feeling at ease when answering payroll inquiries from employees, managers, business unit controllers, vendors and governmental agencies, both in writing and over the phone
- Solid understanding of payroll calculations, accounting, taxation, and finance concepts as it relates to payroll in Finland
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective ongoing relationships through all levels of the organization, including executives, line operations and peers, as well as experience operating in a global matrix environment
- Experience in external payroll platforms and vendor management
- Good knowledge and practice in using Workday as a central HRIS platform
- Passionate about Payroll and data accuracy
- Ability to identify and solve complex issues using existing policies and procedures
- Advanced English communication skills (written, verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Excel
- Resistant to stress and strive to meet deadlines in time, ability to manage the payroll Workload effectively with minimal instruction
- Ability to mentor and support junior colleagues
