Job Summary
Lead end-to-end payroll processing for 200+ employees across multiple states, handling weekly and bi-weekly cycles for salaried, union, and non-union staff. Ensure accurate tax compliance, garnishments, prevailing wage, and union reporting while partnering with Accounting and HR to maintain employee records and benefit deductions. Identify opportunities to improve payroll systems and efficiencies. This role supports onboarding and benefits administration within a collaborative team at a fifth-generation construction company. Bilingual (English/Spanish) experience is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of payroll experience with responsibility for multi-state payroll
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive payroll experience, including responsibility for multi-state payroll administration, payroll tax compliance, and payroll process management
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing and HRIS/payroll systems
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Highly proficient computer and technology skills, including proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, internet browsers, and operating office equipment (copier, printer, fax, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and/or in small group situations to both internal and external customers
- Knowledge of and demonstrated understanding of standard accounting principles
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and perform them efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work as a team player and take initiative to take on and complete tasks
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and other documents
- Ability to do basic math, such as add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Must have reliable means of transportation to & from office
- Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance
- Ability to talk clearly in English
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Experience processing payroll for union employees
- Construction industry payroll experience
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems; Acumatica and Paylocity experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience in Acumatica and Paylocity
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
