Job Summary
Senior Payroll Specialist responsible for biweekly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now with a focus on California wage-and-hour compliance. The role administers payroll data accuracy, leaves (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA accommodations), benefits continuation (COBRA, open enrollment), and garnishments, while ensuring records retention and regulatory compliance. Key duties include processing off-cycle payrolls and bonuses, auditing earnings and deductions, generating reports, and supporting state/federal filings (EEO-1, ACA, payroll tax reporting). The position requires strong knowledge of CA employment law, high attention to detail, data integrity, and ability to manage confidential information. Education: Bachelor’s degree; Experience: minimum 5 years in CA payroll; Certifications: PHR/SHRM-CP/CPP or ADP Payroll certification preferred. Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office is required. The role emphasizes process improvement and collaboration with HR and management to ensure compliant, accurate payroll and benefits administration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in California
- Strong working knowledge of California wage and hour laws
- Advanced proficiency in ADP Workforce Now (payroll and reporting modules)
- Experience in payroll, benefits and reporting functions
- PHR, SHRM-CP and/or CPP or ADP Payroll certification preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage confidential information and multiple priorities
