Job Summary
Senior Payroll Specialist for Colombia focused on end-to-end payroll cycles with a build-phase mindset. Own data interfaces between HRIS (UKG), BPO payroll provider, and Finance; ensure statutory Colombian compliance month over month; manage year-end/mid-year cycles; coordinate treasury funding and monthly close; be the first escalation point for payroll inquiries; translate Colombian labor reform changes into operational payroll changes; build and maintain audit-ready SOPs, payroll calendars, control matrices, and exception logs from day one; contribute to the Remoti-to-Sezzle Colombia SAS payroll transition and cross-border contractor payments. Strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Finance; requires experience with payroll governance, accuracy, and process improvements in a fintech/SaaS environment and proficiency with AI tools like Claude.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on Colombian payroll experience in technology/fintech/SaaS environments
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field
- Deep expertise in Colombian labor law, payroll statutory requirements including PILA submission, DIAN reporting, cesantías, prima, parafiscales, and social security system
- Experience as client-side coordinator with outsourced/BPO payroll provider
- Experience running payroll for small-to-mid Colombian teams (50–250 people) for a global parent company
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for payroll reconciliation, variance analysis, and error detection
- Strong working English; daily communication with US-based People Ops, Finance, and Legal
- HRIS experience (UKG, Workday, ADP or similar) with data flows between HRIS and payroll
- Track record of catching errors before they ship; decisive, decisive escalation ability
- Discretion with Total Compensation and sensitive personal data
- Experience using Claude or similar large language model tools for productivity and research
