Senior Payroll Specialist

Job Summary

Process end-to-end multi-state biweekly payroll for hourly employees, ensuring accurate tax withholding and deduction calculations. Conduct routine pre- and post-payroll audits to verify hours, rate changes, and retro-pay, while managing employee data updates and troubleshooting system issues. Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies and explaining tax matters to staff. Generate labor distribution and attendance reports for management and Accounting.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of payroll processing experience preferred
  • Excellent data entry, 10-key, and mathematical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented, organized, and capable of working independently
  • Knowledge of payroll compliance requirements, wage and hour regulations, and payroll tax practices
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with an automated time collection system
  • Experience processing multi-union and multi-state payrolls for organizations with 250+ employees
  • Experience with Dayforce/Ceridian and DOS systems preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally via email, telephone, and in person
  • Familiarity with garnishment administration and payroll reporting requirements
