Senior Payroll Officer

Job Summary

Manage end-to-end processing of fortnightly and monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and policies. Maintain employee payroll records, process changes for new starters and terminations, and prepare reporting to support audit activities. Act as the primary point of contact for payroll enquiries, resolving issues and providing accurate advice to employees and stakeholders. Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and the maintenance of payroll procedures and documentation. This permanent full-time role reports to the Payroll & Compliance Manager and requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll systems like Employment Hero.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Payroll Officer or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook
  • Experience using payroll systems (e.g., Employment Hero)
  • Experience working with modern awards and enterprise agreements in a healthcare or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to award-based environments and/or healthcare is highly desirable
