Job Summary
Senior Payroll Manager to lead and manage multi-state payroll operations for 1,000+ employees across hourly, salaried, W-2, and 1099 populations. Manages a 3+ person team handling weekly, biweekly, and monthly cycles with full accuracy and compliance. Oversees regulatory research and updates, ensures adherence to federal/state/local payroll laws, and prepares payroll reports, reconciliations, and year-end filings. Serves as the primary employee-facing payroll contact, maintains audit-ready records, and supports onboarding/offboarding, benefits, timekeeping, and payroll-related inquiries. Collaborates with HR, Accounting, and Operations; drives payroll system improvements, automation, and process optimization. Fluency in English and Mandarin is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of payroll experience processing for 1,000+ employees with multi-state payroll compliance and payroll tax
- Fluency in English and Mandarin
- Strong hands-on experience with W-2, 1099, hourly/salary structures, and varied pay cycles
- Comfort and professionalism serving as the payroll point of contact for employees
- Solid understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and regulatory requirements (NY Wage Parity knowledge preferred)
- Healthcare/medical services industry experience preferred but not required
- Experience with ADP, Paychex, or similar payroll systems preferred
- Attention to detail, strong communication, and ability to manage confidential information
