Job Summary

Conduct end-to-end case management for complex high-value litigation, including New York Labor Law, products liability, and catastrophic injury claims. Draft discovery motions, depositions, pleadings, and subpoenas while preparing medical chronologies and trial exhibits. Perform legal research, analyze data from multiple sources, and compile recommendations for attorneys. Maintain case management systems, conduct file audits, and coordinate with experts and clients to support litigation and non-litigated matters. Proficient in Microsoft suite and case management software required.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance or other related area
  • Certification in paralegal studies
  • Five or more years of experience as a paralegal with proven performance
  • In-depth knowledge of paralegal concepts, procedures and practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge in operations, practices and procedures of general counsel or civil litigation
  • Proven knowledge of filing requirements of relevant courts and administrative agencies
  • Knowledge in legal research and complex deposition motion practices, as well as appellate procedures
  • Strong analytical, research and organizational skills
  • Ability to set work priorities that conform with established standards
  • Capacity to coordinate projects with minimal direction
  • Ability to give presentations in formal and informal settings
  • Ability to build and maintain filing systems
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to operate a computer and related legal and business software and databases
  • Proficient using Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Ability to handle all aspects (administrative and paralegal) of the case, including scheduling, mail, drafting discovery and medical chronologies, retaining experts, opening and closing files in addition to trial preparation, attendance and implementation of Sanction or other trial exhibit vehicles
  • Ability to prepare and draft basic discovery motions
  • Capability to learn to draft more complex dispositive motions
  • Ability to draft moderately complex legal documents, agreements and pleadings related to litigated and non-litigated matters
  • Ability to conduct legal research, analyze and compile data from multiple sources
  • Ability to research statutes, regulations and court decisions
  • Ability to prepare summaries and recommend resolutions to legal questions
  • Ability to draft correspondence, contracts, patent applications, resolutions and other legal documents
  • Ability to draft moderately complex depositions, outlines/questions, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, orders and briefs
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate records and data for discovery
  • Ability to draft recommendations and correspondence to clients, claims attorneys and customers with regard to discovery and legal matters
  • Ability to develop and maintain information databases
  • Ability to build new processes for data maintenance, storage and retrieval
  • Ability to conduct and evaluate open and closed paralegal file audits
  • Ability to advise attorneys and management of audit results, making improvement recommendations
  • Ability to maintain currency in both business and legal professional proficiencies
  • Ability to collect information for interrogatories and/or regulatory requests and respond to requests for documentation
